Emre Can: We Owe It To The Fans

It is a game that brings back memories for the wrong reasons. Steven Gerrard’s last game for the club and a 6-1 defeat to Stoke on the last day of the season, not the send off we were anticipating.

So when the fixture list was announced, Liverpool were handed a return to the scene of that horror show, this time for their opening day game. Maybe a good opportunity to set the record straight,  and banish those memories?

Emre Can who played in that game, is hoping for the team to make amends when they visit Stoke this Sunday.

“I hope I can get the goal tally started quickly. We didn’t end the last season particularly well, and I think we owe it to the fans to make amends.

“This is why the first few matches are especially important. I think we can start to put [the Stoke result] right with a few good results.”

Can also spoke about his personal goals for the season ahead.

He continued, “I want to stay fit healthy and in form – that’s always the most important goal to set oneself,”

“I want to play as often as possible, and to have a good consistent season-long run of games.

“I’m certainly planning to score a few good goals!”
