Liverpool FC’s José Enrique was a special guest at Pinehurst Primary School in Liverpool where he donated football kits to children and took part in a Spanish class.

Enrique handed out the kits as part of the Premier League Players’ Kit Scheme which was set up to provide schools, clubs and youth organisations with a full set of strips and training equipment.

The scheme aims to particularly benefit teams from areas with the greatest need and all the equipment is paid for by a Premier League player.

José Enrique, said: “Today has been great seeing all the smiles on the kids’ faces.

“This scheme is fantastic. We all know that grassroots football is important because that’s where we all start out and we know that it’s important to have the right kit and equipment available.”

After the kit presentations, José took centre-stage and hosted a Spanish class for 25 boys and girls, asking and answering questions in his native language. The LFC star also presented a number signed LFC prizes to the children for their outstanding contributions in class.

“I really enjoyed the class and I was very impressed with how good they were at speaking in Spanish. It’s important for us as players and role models to get involved in the community,” added José.

Kris Farrell, Senior Teacher at Pinehurst Primary School, said: “It’s been great for the kids to have José here today.

“Most of the children don’t have kits like the ones José has donated, so it will definitely give them an extra boost to go out and play sport.

“The Spanish class was definitely unique and amazing for the kids. This is a day they will remember for a long time to come.”
