Records Are There To Be Broken – Surely Not This One?

Posted by

With the arrival of Fabio Borini last week, there remains a Liverpool record that has not been broken or threatened in recent years. Records are there to be broken but this one will surely stand the test of time.

Since leaving Liverpool in 1996, Ian Rush scored a record 346 goals in the Liverpool Red. During the 1983-84 season, Rush even chalked up 47 goals in all competitions, bar Lionel Messi, this type of scoring is quite simply unheard of these days.

Scoring every type of goal imaginable…right foot…left foot, header…Ian Rush was one of the most natural finishers in front of goal. His playing career spanned 15 years saw Liverpool’s number 9 collect 14 major honours on the way and the decorated European Golden Boot.

Will anyone come close? What is for sure, Ian Rush’s milestone of 346 goals will remain a constant reminder of the high standards of  a striker in years gone by at Liverpool Football Club.

Relive and enjoy Ian Rush’s Liverpool journey…
