David Johnson Reflects On His Career, Soccer Camps And More

The Asian Kop had the honour of speaking with Liverpool’s Number 9, David Johnson.

During his six years at Liverpool, David won five league championships, three European Cups, a Super Cup and two league cups. In 213 appearances, Johnson scored 78 goals, earning himself 8 England caps in the process.

To label him a legend would be an understatement.

His professionalism on and off the field has seen Johnson set up his own successful soccer camp, “The Liverpool Way”. In partnership with The Elite Academy, the camp have worked in places¬†like Southall and Malaysia.

In this exclusive interview with Sumit of The Asia Kop, Johnson reflects on when he first stepped onto the Anfield pitch, what made Bob Paisley so special, working in Southall and Malaysia. The striker also reveals his biggest professional disappointment and what Geoff Hurst said to him after his fantastic header against Argentina at Wembley.

The interview ends with David’s thoughts of the new signings for the season.
